NOTE: THE CONFERENCE IS STILL GOING ON. INFORMATION SUBJECT TO CHANGE AND NEW INFORMATION TO BE ADDED.

Set a few years after Lightning and the others saved Cocoon, some survivors have decided to start over by rebuilding on Gran Pulse. Lightning, however, is nowhere to be found and thought dead by many, but Serah believes otherwise. When her town is suddenly overrun by monsters, a mysterious man named Noel appears to save her. Together, the two set off to find Lightning..

Time flows without pause

In a world where I no longer exist

The future is about to change

Serah…

The truth still survives

But only you will remember it

With the Sony press conference coming to a close, Final Fantasy XIII-2 was… almost a no-show. Well, minus Square-Enix ninja releasing a trailer onto Gamespot halfway into the show. The trailer shows to us the full view of what the Teaser was trying to show… An amazing game.

The trailer (seen above) starts with Lightning in front of a shrine in her new outfit. She speaks of her sister Serah, and that she no longer exists “in this world”… hmm.

You see Serah walking out of a building being attacked by enemies. A mysterious man comes to save her name Noel Kreiss with the line, “If you want her, then you’ll have to go through me!” He hands her a weapon (though we don’t get much of a view of the weapon) and the scene cuts to views of NORA… Minus Snow. They are talking about a meteor landing, but that is about it.

Soon after, you see Serah standing with another female in a wetlands area (Sunleth Waterscape comes to mind here) who is speaking about a friend who died trying to escape the Purge. This is followed by what appears to be the Bresha Ruins and a hand reaching out of the ruins and going for Serah and Noel. This hand appears to be tied to “Atlas”, and the name “Paradox Alpha” can be seen while fighting it.

Serah asks Noel what he wants. His reply is simple: A future where everyone lives. Gameplay footage is then shown of Noel running around a village (the one seen in the teaser on a beach), and then basic field gameplay (roughly the same as from FFXIII). Two more areas are shown that are more reminiscent of places seen in the Vile Peaks (We also get to see a Moogle), along with an area that looks outside the Crystal Tower of Cocoon. Serah is also seen walking around in a wasteland area.

This is followed by even more ‘action” shots, showing Unstable Rifts and the system to engage enemies (more timing based now – it seems based off their “awareness” of you). Stagger and Monster Control is shown off even more, with a Feral Behemoth and Pulseworker taking their role I the last party slot. This is shown with even more stuff from combat, include Action commands (mashing “O”, obviously for PS3). More footage from the “fight” with the giant hand seen before is shown, along with a Cinematic Action where you must correctly time pressing “A” (XBox version) at the right time to complete the Action successfully.

At long last, we get to see Lightning gameplay… With Odin!? Yup, with Odin! She is seen fighting “Chaos Bahamut” (Wait WHAT!?) while riding on Odin. Her skills on her ATB include “Lightning Strike” and “Snipe”. This is finished with a Cinematic Action where you must once again press the button on time (“O”).

The trailer ends with NORA trying to lead people out of the city. Gadot is seen trying to call Serah over, but she falls back over a soldier. Serah calls out for Lightning’s help. Lebrau shoots the enemy and grabs Serah’s arm, telling her a simple but powerful line.

“Lightning is dead.”

As seen in the images above, some things (several things) have been revealed. In the “Bresha Ruins” image, there is a “Climate Type” in the corner. This shows that we’ll likely get what the Sunleth Waterscape tried to do: A climate system. Also as said above, we get a “Enemy Awareness” system. The Datalog is also back, and a system that Bioware seems to be extremely good at… Square-Enix is now using: The choices meter. Most importantly though? Gil drops in battle!

Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available!
