July 21, 2010 has come and gone now for most of the world, but yesterday was definitely full of many announcements in regards to Square-Enix.
Final Fantasy XIII has been possibly announced for the Xbox360 for Japan, though if this is a good thing or not is still up in the air. Late ports have a tendency to not do so well, on top of that I believe 360 isn’t quite as popular in Japan. The Japanese XBox 360 site received a list of FFXIII achievements to suggest this late port.
Square-Enix NA will be receiving a new CEO. We will see what comes of this as well.
Final Fantasy XIII Piano Collections was released yesterday on PlayAsia, YesAsia, and iTunes. Featuring 10 tracks from Square-Enix’s latest Final Fantasy game, the Collection is definitely a “must-have” for any FFXIII Fan. It is priced at $9.90. Sheet Music will be available on August 20, 2010.
Final Fantasy Legends was announced for Japanese Mobile Phone under the title “Final Fantasy Legends: Warriors of Light and Darkness” (Translated titled). As of now, this game remains Japan exclusive, and is being produced by the FFIV The After Years team. It may eventually get the “The After Years” treatment and see an iPhone or WiiWare release for other countries.
Another Square-Enix game remake has been announced as well, Super Nintendo’s Tactics Ogre. It will be released for the PSP under the name “Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together” and is being developed by the original staff (Other games include: Final Fantasy XII, Final Fantasy Tactics, Vagrant Story).
If you are at Comic Con this week, be sure to visit Square-Enix’s booth, and possibly go hunt down some Final Fantasy XIII Voice Actors! Both Georgia Van Cuylenburg (Vanille) and Rachel Robinson (Fang) hinted via Facebook that they will be at Comic Con!
